Days Are Too Short

I decided I don't want to think about summer anymore so moving on...

"I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see. "
-John Burroughs

"All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. "
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

"I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day."
-E.B. White

I just watched Phoebe in Wonderland. It was a really cute movie. Here is a clip of my favorite part. Just watch the first minute and twenty seconds, otherwise it will ruin the movie for you.

I've also been reading this book called The Accidental Sorcerer by KE Mills. It's been a pretty good read so far. I'm in chapter 3.

I made a new blog as well: abysmalinstinct.blogspot.com
It's a music blog me and my best friend are putting together.

That is all.

The Promise of Earlier Months

What is one to say about June, the time of perfect young summer, the fulfillment of the promise of the earlier months, and with as yet no sign to remind one that its fresh young beauty will ever fade. ~Gertrude Jekyll

Summer was fun, I got to visit my boyfriend for three months! Happy days those were...
But alas it is over and done with, which I am tremendously sad about.
So to help the transition, I will be doing a few blogs where I include summer memories.
It'll keep a nice fresh smile on my face and in my heart when I am frustrated with my algebra homework ;)

So here are some random things I did this summer:

I ate a lot of yummy meals, and gained an extra ten pounds (which is a very difficult matter for me now that I don't fit quite right into my clothes.)

Brown Sugar Zucchini, Bleu Cheese and Bacon Stuffed Chicken, Strawberry Salad, Stuffed Mushrooms (you cant really see these), and Croissant:

Strawberry Salad, Bacon wrapped Asparagus, and Shrimp Skewers:

A while back I bought a pair of transparent bright pink heart sunglasses, and lost them the day after. I've been looking for a similar pair ever since and finally found one in June:
They are more of a lilac color than bright pink:

I bought my nephew some fun little gifts for his birthday too.
I really liked the card because it says something offensive but is written all pretty like a thank you card. And the stuffed bacon was so weird and random it made me smile:
That's all for now, but there will be more soon!

A Garden In My Pocket

"The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it. "
-James Bryce

"A good book should leave you... slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading it."
-William Styron, interview, Writers at Work, 1958

"If there's a book you really want to read but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it." -Toni Morrison

"A book is like a garden carried in the pocket. "
-Chinese Proverb

I am 4 pages into typing the first chapter of my book! I have several pages that are hand-written, I just need to type them up.

Here is a recipe for Lemon Pudding Cake I found in an issue of Cook's Country:

Five Minutes Braver

A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes longer.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson.

"Our modern society is engaged in polishing and decorating the cage in which man is kept imprisoned."
-Swami Nirmalananda

There is so much truth to this quote.
